PHSANZ 2014 4th Annual Scientific Meeting - October 16-17.

The 4th PHSANZ annual scientific meeting will be held at the Twin Waters Novotel, Sunshine coast, QLD, October 16th and 17th 2014.

This year, the Steering committee – Prof. Trevor Williams, Dr Fiona Kermeen, Dr Melanie Lavender and Dr Helen Whitford have a terrific line up of speakers, including Prof Stephan Nathan, Medical Director, Lung Transplant Program Director, Advanced Lung Disease Program, Virginia, USA.

An Advanced program will be released shortly.

2014 sees the introduction of a dedicated facilitated poster session will be held during the cocktail welcome reception on Thursday 16th October from 6.30 pm. We encourage all delegates to support your colleagues and be at the Novotel on Thursday for this important session.
The PHSANZ AGM will be held prior to the poster session at 5.30 pm. All clinical members are welcome!

We are pleased to be able to provide free registration to our clinical members. It is essential that all delegates register to ensure we do not over / under cater for this event. Please register via the PHSANZ website registration portal as soon as possible.

Prof. Steven D. Nathan, MD, FCCP

Medical Director, Lung Transplant Program
Director, Advanced Lung Disease Program

Steven D. Nathan, MD, FCCP, is director of the Inova Advanced Lung Disease Program and medical director of the Inova Lung Transplant Program at Inova Fairfax Hospital. 

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he also is an affiliate professor of biomedical sciences at George Mason University and associate professor of medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. 

Dr. Nathan received his medical degree at University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his internship in internal medicine and general surgery at Johannesburg Hospital and his internal medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York City. His fellowships in pulmonary medicine, critical care and lung transplantation were completed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine.

Dr. Nathan has published more than 175 professional works, including original research manuscripts, abstracts, reviews and book chapters. He also received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to establish a collaborative NIH-Inova advanced lung disease program.

His professional associations include the American Thoracic Society, from which he received the 2011 Outstanding Clinician Award for the Metropolitan DC chapter. He also belongs to the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. Dr. Nathan is a frequent presentor at national and international conferences.
